I love fairy tales. The triumph of underdogs and happy endings fascinate me. I love subtlety. The talk of the eyes means more to me than the real words. I love things short and sweet. I remember writing pages in exam only when I didn't know the answer. I love the idea of love. Anything which makes 'I' taking a backseat for someone else is real something special.
Having said what I said, there was no chance that I would not have loved this short film.
And again, one more not so popular song which I find utterly romantic. The lyrics may not be straight forward and is open to interpretation. But, the way I decode the phrase "Ek khidki hai, Ek chehra hai, Toota sheesa hai, Girti shabnam hai", I find it just beautiful.
This song reminds me of a good friend of REC days who always used to tell me: Kya babu!!(Imitating our lab assistant's style). Kya sunta rehta hai? Kaun si khidki, kaun si siddhi, kya hai yeh gaana?:)
Ek khidki hai Ek chehra hai Toota sheesa hai Girti shabnam hai Woh to dino raat Meri aankhon mein hai Kya bhi main uske Raston mein hun Raston mein hun
Ek siddhi hai Ek rasta hai Koi apna hai Ya phir sapna hai Woh to dino raat Meri aankhon mein hai Kya bhi main uske Raston mein hun Raston mein hun
Pairon tale Sukhe patto ki jhankar Aur baadalon mein Behta hua pyaar
Ek khidki hai Ek chehra hai Toota sheesa hai Girti shabnam hai Woh to dino raat Meri aankhon mein hai Kya bhi main uske Raston mein hun Raston mein hun Raston mein hun Raston mein hun
Calvin: What's it like to fall in love? Hobbes: Well... say the object of your affection walks by... Calvin: Yeah? Hobbes: First, your heart falls into your stomach and splashes your innards. All the moisture makes you sweat profusely. This condensation shorts the circuits to your brain and you get all woozy. When your brain burns out altogether, your mouth disengages and you babble like a cretin until she leaves. Calvin: THAT'S LOVE?!? Hobbes: Medically speaking. Calvin: Heck, that happened to me once, but I figured it was cooties!!
The other day I was reading a blog where the author had written word to word what I felt but could not express on paper. It's a god given talent bestowed upon very few who can express their feeling so beautifully. Now, god has already distributed what he had to and me getting not much of it, I have to depend and admire others' creation:) Here is a lovely song from the movie Socha Na Tha.
Kabhi dil ke kareeb, tumhe mere naseeb Yun laayenge socha na tha Ek chahat ka pal, sab sawalon ka hal Yun paayenge socha na tha Kabhi dil ke kareeb
Aankhein jo ab meri aankhon mein hain Dhoond raha tha kayi salon se Kitni milti hain aankhein yeh Khwabon se mere khayalon se Ke haqeeqat mein hum, sapno ka sanam Yun paayenge socha na tha Kabhi dil ke kareeb, tumhe mere naseeb
Kabhi tanha baithe baithe yun hi Pal mein hi main ghum ho jaati thi Main bhi kahaan main rehti thi Aksaar main tum ho jaati thi Yeh ajaab si khata, aur isski saza Yun paayenge socha na tha Kabhi dil ke kareeb, tumhe mere naseeb Yun laayegne socha na tha Ek chahat ka pal, sab sawalon ka haal Yun paayenge socha na tha

I mentioned about this beautiful Himahchali folk song in my last post. I had heard this song few years back and it was there somewhere in back up of mind. Thankfully, came across it again and this time won't let it fade away. I had no clue what it meant but it felt so soothing and haunting. A friend explained the meaning and I have tried to put the translation which might not be entirely correct. Enjoy!!
Amma poochdi sun dhiye mere aee
Dhubari itni tu kiya kareeya hoyee yee
[Mother Asks Listen O my daughter,
Why are you so restless?]
Paarli vaniya mor jo bole ho
Amma ji ina more nindara gawayi ho
[Daughter says: The peacock is hooting in the next forest,
O mother, his hooting has taken away my sleep]
Sad le bandukiyo sad le shikari jo
Dhiye bhlaa idaa mor maar girana ho
[Mother says: Lets call hunters and gunner,
O daughter we will take this peacock down.]
Morni marna ayeeee ooooooo
Morni marna morni gawana ho
Oh ammaji inda mor hinjare puwana ho
[Daughter says: No we will not shoot it,
I will put it in a cage]
Dev D has been due for a long time. Finally listening to the album thanks to a friend. The album overall is quite good and different. There are few numbers which stand out for me. One of them is a small but soulful song 'Ranjhana' which will touch your heart.
Okie Okie. I can hear my friends shouting what's new that I liked this song. A slow song with a touch of sadness. That's enough for me to like. They are partly right and somehow I end up liking slow songs with meaningful lyrics. But I must admit that I love many songs which I don't understand a single bit. Next post will be a Himachali folk song which I had no clue about till a friend explained me the lyrics.
Na raha mera yaar Tune sang, tune ang naa lagayi Birha ki agni mein chokhi jalayi Hadd se bhi hadd hadd kardi Na chaali dil ki marzi Chhaliya ve jaa jaa Baat dekhi teri barson maine Gaaj tune giradi dil pe more Bedardi samjha na tu more sukh ko Tujh bin din raat ke saaye, Tujh bin kuch bhaaye na haye...
Dhola, dhola re...
Music : Amit Trivedi Lyrics : Shellee Singers : Shilpa Rao & Kshitiz Tarey
Phir woh jalan Phir wohi aag Kab tak rahegi Man ki yeh pyas
Yeh dhadkanein kab tak chalein Jalti rahegi jab tak yeh aag
Le ke pyar ankhon mein Tum ek bar aaoo naa Kaise katega jeevan is aas mein Ya to meri yaadon meinnn aao naaaaaa.. Ya phir meri bahon mein aao naaaaaa..
Aa rahi hai teri yaad Dil mera phir bekarar Dekhe nigahein rasta tera Katena raatein dil lage naaa
Han milogi yeh aeitbar hai Na milogi to iska raagh hai Rehta hun main kyon is aas mein
Ya to meri yadon mein aao naaa Ya phir meri bahon mein aao naaa Ya to meri yadon mein aao naaa Ya phir meri bahon mein aao naaa Ya to meri yadon mein aao naaa Ya phir meri bahon mein aao naaa
How can I miss this song for so long and not mention it here? The song which made the band Euphoria and who paid back with so many lovely numbers thereafter. Such a beautiful song, though I must admit that I don't understand some portion of the lyrics. But then when do we need to understand lyrics to love a song. Not for nothing that they say music has no language.
